EQUIP A LABORATORY SCHEME /EQUIPMENT PROCUREMENTS
The Need
In terms of research equipment, the Faculty is grossly lagging. Basic equipment for training our undergraduate and graduate students are lacking. Most of the time, the students only see these facilities without using them, since they are dysfunctional. To repair them will cost nearly as much as acquiring new ones. This gravely affects the quality of our graduates and impacts on the quality of researches emanating from the Faculty.
Any meaningful publishable work done in the Faculty is the one carried out abroad or in sister institutions. On the side of the lecturers, the absence of these key facilities makes it impossible for them to practice what they had learnt in years past, and this deadens their skills and competencies. There is therefore an urgent need to have these pieces of equipment or at least some of them replaced, for effective training of our students and staff researches.
Our Resources
The Faculty has the cream of researchers and some space for the equipment. We still have some key technical staff that can man and maintain these instruments when acquired.
Our Request
We are looking for individuals or corporate bodies that can adopt a given lab (out of our six basic laboratories) and modernize/equip it to their taste. Such refurbished/equipped laboratories would be named after the individual or corporate body. Specific details of what are needed to equip each laboratory would be communicated to those that indicate interest.We are also looking for persons or corporate bodies who would help us procure some equipment for the Central Equipment room for general teaching and research in the Faculty.
