MODEL PHARMACY
The Need
The establishment of a Model Pharmacy is one of the key requirements of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, for sound training of our students. It provides a suitable practical hands-on training to ground our students in the art of practical dispensing and community pharmacy practice.
The students would be acquainted with the drugs they are learning about. It makes the theoretical lessons very real and more easily understood. This is in addition to giving our students the poise and confidence needed for effective community pharmacy practice. On the part of the lecturers, the Model Pharmacy will give them the opportunity to keep abreast of what they are teaching in the classroom and an added opportunity to update their knowledge. The Model Pharmacy will also serve to make the Faculty prove her relevance as she services the drug needs of the staff and students of the University. Additionally, some revenue would accrue to the Faculty from sales and services.
Our Resources
The Faculty presently has a good space in the newly built Multi-Activity Centre of the university. We also have a team of dedicated staff, especially of the Clinical Pharmacy Department that would service the Pharmacy, working on calls. Additionally, we have a high number of full-time postgraduate students who are too willing to deploy their services to the outfit. Of course, the university community comprising a huge number of staff and students population, forms a sizeable number of clientele for the Model Pharmacy.
